The rebirth of a legend
With the
introduction of our second generation Burson HD opamp and low noise regulator
technology, we were able to further enhance the performance of our acclaimed
PP-100. Combining a premium selection of components, like the ELNA audio grade
capacitors, the 1% tolerant DALE military graded resistor, and the custom built
400VA transformer, we have been able to raise the performance of the PP100 to
even greater levels. We've called this new beast, the PP-160.
Our
discrete (IC free) approach allows us to optimize our design and tune the
PP-160 to achieve the best in audio reproduction. For the PP-160 we have
decided to tune it into a completely transparent and selfless power amp, that
humbly reproduces any sonic flavor from upstream while not adding any coloration
of its own.

Our acclaimed
High Sensitivity Input Buffer stage is fully implemented into the PP-160. It
enhances sonic transparency and allows the PP-160 to perfectly team up with any
preamp (solid state or tube) and unleash the full potential of any
system.

Listening Impression
Transparency, power
and enhanced definition are the three key characteristics of the PP-160 power
amp. It's so transparent, that you would not know it is there, yet power can be
felt with every note. Also definition is lifted to a new level. Each note is
first delivered by a precise and accurate attack, which can only be achieved by
a solid-state amp, then comes the decay that can only be matched by the best
tube amps.
The function of Opamps at the output stage is as
important as the lens on a cinema projector. Regardless of the analytical
capability of the audio gear, an inferior opamp will halve a machine's
performance, and distort every dB of sonic imagery.
Just like our acclaimed HA160, the PP-160 features our Burson HD audio
opamp. It enables the PP-160 to reproduce music in superior resolution
and accuracy.
Just like an athlete needs clean air to perform
at an optimum standard – audio equipment needs clean power to reproduce
transparent and natural music.
The PP-160 is housed in a 6mm case, constructed
from high precision machined aluminium. This enclosure allows the PP-160,
to achieve a very high mechanical damping factor, which reduces any
microphonic effects, that may degrade the clarity of sonic
performance.
We understand how critical it is for a power amp
to match well with different up stream equipment (eg. Headphone amplifier,
pre amplifier, passive preamp and various solid state or tube designs.) In
2007 we introduced the AB-160 audio buffer to resolve this precise issue.
