JUPITER Beeswax Paper & Aluminum Foil Capacitors - 30% Off

JUPITER Caps are back ! After a move back east, and a lengthy process of re-qualifying new OEM vendors, Jupiter has re-launched their unique line of signal caps.....with a broader range, improved reliability and slightly improved technical and sonic performance, this product line is poised for a real resurgence in the DIY marketplace.

These are large plate area capacitors (both 100V Loudspeaker and 600V signal coupling types) made of all natural materials, most notably beeswax impregnated kraft paper dielectric. Available leads are standard OFHC copper leads or 4/9 silver leads.

Jupiter Condenser capacitors are hand made in the USA using the finest specially selected materials.

For Jupiter, the dielectric was the first area to be addressed in the manufacture of their caps. From the early 1900's to the 1950's, the greatest paper capacitor research was in the area of dielectrics...with no mention of foils. Paper formulation and it's handling were key, though impregnants were deemed the most important area. Specifically, anti-oxidant characteristics of impregnants were prized. . With beeswax, there are small amounts of propolis, which is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and most importantly, a very powerful anti-oxidant. This protects the paper and foil from further oxidation, and keep microbes from eating/degrading the wax and paper

Jupiter has also adopted manufacturing practices used by RCA and techniques developed by Bell Telephone which were also implemented in Western Electric paper capacitor manufacturing. These procedures combined with Jupiter's own proprietary techniques, yield an insulation resistance that averages 50K megohm.

The Ag plug enhances overall performance by utilizing pure silver for the signal connection, while the Cu enhances overall performance by utilizing pure copper for the signal connection. It is fully insulated using Makrolon® and a member of the nextgen family. A secure connection is possible through an expanding inner spike which provides high clamping power. Rather than the usual RF shielding metal box, which doesn't exactly spell resonance free (try and tap on it), they used a special RF absorbing foam, as used in RF measurement laboratories. This cell foam also has a dampening effect on any mecanical vibration, that might reach the PCB itself.

It is not plated. The blade is brass. It is characterized by the natural tone without a feeling of coloration.

Have super thick (1.5micron) Silver plating directly on polished surface of receptacle and blade. Polishing process again (twice) on the silver plated surface, and then applied final Rhodium plating (0.3micron). Combination and thicknesses of plating represent the final sound character. Quality of polishing process influences the sound quality..

P-079, P-079e and C-079
Are super thick (0.2micron) 24K GOLD plating directly on polished surface of receptacle and blade. Polishing process again (twice) on the 24K GOLD plated surface. Construction method is alike except direct 24k extra thick plating on polished receptacles and blades. Plating material and quality change sound dramatically. Where Rhodium sounds pure and strong; Gold sounds warm, soft and luxurious. Either way, they both sound far superior to the normal style. It’s up to you to choose for your type of sound and music

PEARL Tube Coolers

From Bill Perkins of Perkins Electro-Acoustic Research Laboratory!   pcX now has in stock, "new" updated PEARL TUBE COOLERS - without a doubt, one of the most useful accessories in tube audio. 

Use of these devices result in reduced tube microphony for noticeably improved sonics; and longer tube life (conservatively triple) due to the cooler "heatsinking' the heat away from the glass enveloped, via the thermally conductive copper-finned cooler material.

PEARL has converted (since October 2005) cooler manufacturing over to a new fin design, which provides over 60% more contact area with the tube's glass bulb/envelope. As such, the carbon fibre sleeve is no longer required for the cooler to work, as intended.    As we sell out of the older design (which include the sleeve) coolers, customers will receive new stock, without the carbon fibre sleeve.

PEARL TUBE COOLERS  Bill Perkins of PEARL has effectively suspended operations on the production of both Tube Coolers and Cryotubes. pcX has concluded after months of unproductive discussions with Bill, that PEARL is no longer a reliable vendor, or a "going concern"....and it appears that he is unable to fulfill his legal and financial obligations to his "retail distributors" such as pcX. Until such time that Mr. Perkins can sort out a number of personal and business issues, pcX will no longer actively market his product. We at pcX regret that we cannot guarantee fulfillment of any existing PEARL back-orders due to these circumstances, which are well beyond our control.  UPDATE:  It appears pcX will be receiving it's long overdue pre-paid order shortly.   If so, we should have stock of ALL models again, by mid-October.  Fingers crossed !
