Formerly known as Tesla, JJ Tubes re-organized in the mid 1990s, moved the company to the Slovak Republic, and are still making their tubes on some of the original Tesla machinery. DUELUND  1.0 & 2.0 Silver Foil and Silk/Oil Hook-up Wire 

pcX has had great success with the junior model of this range - the 0.5 (18 awg). It has been the best sounding hook-up wire we sell, and a wonderful seller too.

Now, we are going to begin stocking the senior members of this hook-up wire product line - the 1.0 and 2.0.

The 1.0 is same awg as the 0.5 (approx. 18 awg) but has an additional layer of silk, which allows DUELUND to achieve better oil impregnation into the silk, which in turn gets more moisture to be "drawn" to the cable. This increases the wire's anti-static properties. The result is clearly better tonal presentation, depth of image, soundstage etc.

The 2.0 has a 60% larger silver foil conductor (approximating a 16 awg wire) but with the same double silk/improved oil impregnation dielectricum as the 1.0

Realizing that something had to be done about this, we sent a pair of Duelund Coherent Audio  CAST capacitors to set the record straight.

We are proud to announce the following result:

Sound: The CAST capacitor has all the same characteristics as the VSF but with added top-end clarity and together with that, more spatiality. They are (like the VSF) super natural, smooth, clear and open. The tonal balance is extremely neutral, especially audible with good recordings of acoustic instruments and the human voice, so mainly with classical music. Like the VSF the separation of the individual instruments is very good and in an orchestra, the string section is a group of individuals rather than just a group. Soprano's have clarity without becoming hard to the ear, wind instruments (especially the copper section) have that nice "metal" edge without becoming rough. Where in the past you had to choose between a Mundorf Silver/Gold/Oil (very good depth and imaging) or a Duelund VSF (very neutral presentation) you can now have the best of both worlds in the form of the Duelund CAST-Cu. I did find they needed a couple of weeks use to fully come to bloom, so give a chance to burn-in. My current reference!

These sockets feature a blend of Teflon, ABS and other polymers, to give them a high heat tolerance...while still being able to be molded into the appropriate shape.

Also, these sockets have a unique 2 pc. pin configuration...the main contact is silver-plated brass...however, each contact sleeve also contains a "crown spring" made of silver-plated beryllium copper, which has far greater long-term elasticity. Polishing process again (twice) on the silver plated surface, and then applied final Rhodium plating (0.3micron). Combination and thicknesses of plating represent the final sound character. Quality of polishing process influences the sound quality.

P-079 and C-079
Are super thick (0.2micron) 24K GOLD plating directly on polished surface of receptacle and blade. Polishing process again (twice) on the 24K GOLD plated surface. Construction method is alike except direct 24k extra thick plating on polished receptacles and blades. Plating material and quality change sound dramatically. Where Rhodium sounds pure and strong; Gold sounds warm, soft and luxurious. Either way, they both sound far superior to the normal style. It’s up to you to choose for your type of sound and music.

Hi-Fi Tuning "SilverStar" Fuses  

pcX is now stocking the new, unplated, pure silver tip-to-tip "SilverStar" version of Hi-Fi Tuning's popular fuses. The anti-resonant ceramic fuse body is retained and of course Hi-Fi Tuning remains the only fuse manufacturer capable of producing fuses with a pure silver burn wire. Why is this important? Because in all other upgrade fuses, the copper-based burn wire will degrade over time due to oxidation (as opposed to silver oxide, which is a good conductor). And just forget about the tin burn wires in commercial fuses!

The "hot rod" SilverStar fuse gets the same cryogenic treatment as the gold-plated version, and they are directional as indicated by the Hi-Fi Tuning logo.

RCA C SP SS
Signature Series RCA Shorting Pin Caps (RCA C SP SS) can be used to short out an input RCA. This is desirable on some equipment to lower the noise floor. Some manufacturers ship them with their preamps. With the RCA SP SS the user can decide to either short or not short inputs. Generally outputs prefer not being shorted. Billet brass, nickel plated caps fit over unused female RCA connectors to shield against RFI, EMI, dust and corrosion. Sold in sets of two.

Cardas Phono Plug Caps (GRQ C SS) fit into unused phono plug connectors to eliminate EMI and RF noise absorption, dust and corrosion. pcX has recently received delivery of the custom tube tester we had commissioned to be built for the 6C33C-B Russian power triode tube. Using this tester (4 tubes at a time):

• we burn-in all stock for 24 hours at real-world operating parameters - both voltage and current
• we provide the Vb (Bias voltage) and Gm (Trans conductance) of each tube at 250ma Ip (plate current)

These are the most thoroughly aged, selected and tested 6C33C-B's on the market today....perfect for the dozens of D-I-Y OTL designs hobbyists have been building these last 10 years, and for those customers who own 6C33C-B amps from companies such as BAT, Antique Sound Lab, etc.

From Bill Perkins of Perkins Electro-Acoustic Research Laboratory!   pcX now has back in stock, the "full range" of "new" updated PEARL TUBE COOLERS - without a doubt, one of the most useful accessories in tube audio.  

Use of these devices result in reduced tube microphony for noticeably improved sonics; and longer tube life (conservatively triple) due to the cooler "heatsinking" the heat away from the glass enveloped, via the thermally conductive copper-finned cooler material.

NOTE: PEARL has converted (since October 2005) cooler manufacturing over to a new fin design, which provides over 60% more contact area with the tube's glass bulb/envelope. As a result, the previously supplied carbon fibre sleeve is no longer required for the cooler to work, as intended.
