A consistent comment about TKD's popular 2CP-2511 control is it's pro-style "fader-like" taper....which is not always desired by HiFi hobbyists. What pcX has chosen (with the assistance with TKD's technical support engineers) is TKD's 2CP2508 part.....a stereo 100K pot, with a 300 degree rotational angle, and most importantly, with TKD's A taper...which mimic's the familiar "audio/log" taper offered by long-time industry leaders for HiFi audio potentiometers, ALPS and NOBLE. GOLDEN DRAGON Tube Rings (by Duende Criatura) GOLDEN DRAGON Tube Rings by Duende Criatura considerably reduce distortion and self-oscillation from audio tubes. They have to be slid around the top part of the tube and where they reduce mechanical vibrations in the tube. The listener will notice improvement of three dimensional picture, a more controlled bass and cleaner soundstage. The before mentioned effects are at their best when the tube ring is sitting around the top part of the tube. The tube’s ability to radiate heat will be unaffected. The base ring has been manufactured of pure grade Teflon because Teflon has a high specific weight and good dampening characteristics. Teflon can handle temperatures up to 260 degrees C., considerably above the typical tube working temperature of 160 to 220 degrees C. The titanium clamp insures an intense contact between Teflon ring and glass tube. Titanium has been used because tube circuitry are normally high-impedance designs and therefore sensitive to eddy-currents. Titanium, unlike other kinds of metal, does not carry eddy-currents. Duende Criatura tube rings are the result of years of design and experimentation and can be used in pre stages, phase splitters and output stages. Improvement is recognizable in non-amplifying and high feedback stages, but sound improvement is at its optimum in amplifying and low feedback stages. The Duende Criatura tube rings are available in different sizes for most tube types. Non standard ring sizes can be manufactured on request. Lars Clausen of DEXA Technologies writes "The UWB Regulator is a high end replacement to 78XX and 79XX regulators found in CD / DVD players and other audio equipment. The output of the 7805 regulator is often used as reference for the DAC, or other noise sensitive sections of the audio equipment, like the OpAmps. Unfortunately the 7805 has very poor noise performance. Especially if there are external noise sources around the 7805 regulator, like rippe or load fluctuations. In case a fluctuating load is connected to the 7805, or 100 Hz ripple is present on the input of the 7805, the S/N ratio of the 7805 drops down below acceptable level for Audio purposes. In this case you can greatly benefit from a regulator with a good ripple rejection, but even more improtantly, a regulator with a wide bandwidth loop, that can remain stable under fluctuating loads. The UWB regulator replaces the 7805 (or other 78XX / 79XX regulator) as a cheap and simple upgrade of your Audio Player, and has more than 100 times better ripple rejection, 10 times lower noise, and no line and load regulation error. It is discretely made on a circuit board, of roughly the same size as the 78XX / 79XX regulator. This way a regulator can be constructed with better performance than any known IC regulator on the market. 78XX is the positive voltage regulator, while .. 79XX is the negative voltage regulator. useful accessories in tube audio. Use of these devices result in reduced tube microphony for noticeably improved sonics; and longer tube life (conservatively triple) due to the cooler "heatsinking' the heat away from the glass enveloped, via the thermally conductive copper-finned cooler material. PEARL has converted (since October 2005) cooler manufacturing over to a new fin design, which provides over 60% more contact area with the tube's glass bulb/envelope. As such, the carbon fibre sleeve is no longer required for the cooler to work, as intended. This is pcX's most popular interconnect cable (custom nade for us by DH LABS), and probably the cheapest pure silver "balanced configurable" interconnect available today. This is like a junior version of DH LABS' Revelation Interconnect Cable. CARDAS We at pcX have recently made substantial investments in large roll lengths of the majority of CARDAS hook-up wires, which entitled us to additional wholesale discounts. This has enabled pcX to pass on these savings to it's customers...thus, we've reduced our selling prices quite substantially ! PEARL TUBE COOLERS Bill Perkins of PEARL has effectively suspended operations on the production of both Tube Coolers and Cryotubes. pcX has concluded after months of unproductive discussions with Bill, that PEARL is no longer a reliable vendor, or a "going concern"....and it appears that he is unable to fulfill his legal and financial obligations to his "retail distributors" such as pcX. Until such time that Mr. Perkins can sort out a number of personal and business issues, pcX will no longer actively market his product. We at pcX regret that we cannot guarantee fulfillment of any existing PEARL back-orders due to these circumstances, which are well beyond our control. ALPHA-CORE has an announced a price increase on all foil inductors, effective Feb. 1st 2008, as a result of the continually increasing price of Copper. PRP has dramatically increased the price of their resistors due to increase in commodity materials used in their production. As well, they have increased their minimum order buy per value. pcX has mitigated the price increase to their retail customers, by ordering over 100,000 pieces in the last few weeks alone (in order to get the best price break possible). As well, we have dramatically increased our range of stocked values, in all three wattages. However, there will be small price increases on some values, especially at the extreme ends of the value ranges. DUELUND We at pcX are now pleased to have listed on our website, the complete range of DUELUND Hook-up Wire, Graphite Resistors, VSF Caps, CAST-PIO caps, WPIO Inductors and CAST Inductors. HOVLAND announced a small price increase for their line of MusiCap's last fall...however pcX has only changed it's prices effective February 1st.
