To quote Robert Stein of The Cable Company, "The HiFi-Tuning Noise Destroyer was demonstrated on the noisy AC power in the hallway of a big NY hotel during Primedia's (Stereophile, etc..) 2007 "Home Entertainment Show." By using a "Noise Detector," which made the noise on the AC line audible to everyone, the impact of this product was obvious. The instant one of the Noise Destroyers was plugged into the circuit, the noise vanished completely. The Noise Destroyer is a parallel AC filter - a classic wall-wart - which plugs into a "free" socket within the AC circuit . Sonic Improvements of the Level-2 mod: The unit is quieter, blacks are blacker to resolve more low-level detail and ambience. Bass slam and extension are dramatically improved, with much fuller weight and authority. The unit now sounds more like the best solid-state players in this area and competes with anything that we have heard in this area under $10k. Dynamics are greatly improved over the stock player. useful accessories in tube audio. Use of these devices result in reduced tube microphony for noticeably improved sonics; and longer tube life (conservatively triple) due to the cooler "heatsinking' the heat away from the glass enveloped, via the thermally conductive copper-finned cooler material. PEARL has converted (since October 2005) cooler manufacturing over to a new fin design, which provides over 60% more contact area with the tube's glass bulb/envelope. As such, the carbon fibre sleeve is no longer required for the cooler to work, as intended. A number of pcX suppliers have made important announcements...some have taken effect...others will in the coming days and weeks.... ALPHA-CORE has an announced an upcoming price increase on all foil inductors, due to continually increasing price of the price of Copper. EICHMANN has just increased their price...for the first time in years...again, due to material cost pressures. pcX's discount % off retail remains the same. CARDAS has just increased their connector prices (effective November 15th) due to material cost pressures. PRP has dramatically increased the price of their resistors due to increase in commodity materials used in their production. As well, they have increased their minimum order buy per value. pcX has mitigated the price increase to their retail customers, by ordering over 100,000 pieces in the last few weeks alone (in order to get the best price break possible). As well, we have dramatically increased our range of stocked values, in all three wattages. HIFI TUNING A statement from the distributor "Exchange rate pressures, along with added costs due to a running change earlier in the year to add cryogenic treatment during fuse production, forces an adjustment in US$ pricing. From an import perspective the thinnest margins are on the larger fuses, so for now we will continue to absorb the cost pressures on the small fuses, leaving the retail alone at $29.95, but we must increase the MSRP of the larger fuses to $39.95 effective November 1, 2007." HAMMOND We have recently expanded our line-up Hammond transformers, to include a number of popular (but previously unlisted) DIY audio and guitar amp types. As well, a previously announced "across the product line" price increase will be updated on the pcX website by the end of November.
